Why Wanting More Out Of Life Doesn’t Make You Greedy… It Makes You Normal

wanting more

Is it normal to never feel satisfied with your life? To always feel like you want more?

The short answer is YES… because it’s human nature to want to grow and expand, just like everything else in nature.

But is it okay to feel like this?

To answer this question, I wanted to get another point of view for you, so I asked author, life coach and founder of Life Mastery Institute, Mary Morrissey, her thoughts on this subject and I must say, I couldn’t agree with her more.

Watch this video to find out what Mary had to say:

“We have decades of programming that tell us that it’s not okay to “want,” that “wanting” must make us greedy… [But] you can absolutely want more for your life and be grateful for what you have.” — Mary Morrissey, Author & Founder of Life Mastery Institute

My Take On Mary Morrissey’s Unique Approach For True Fulfillment

Like Mary mentioned in the video, most of the information we get around success, fulfillment and wealth come from people who are NOT actually successful, fulfilled and wealthy in the first place. This causes a huge problem for many of us because this information most likely doesn’t support us in our life.

For example, you may say you want to be rich, but if you grew up hearing that rich people are greedy, then chances are you’ll have a hard time getting rich. Why? Because your belief is that rich people are greedy, and you’ll never subconsciously become someone you have a problem with.

Can you see why this can cause an issue for you?

So what do you do if you have non-supportive beliefs? The fastest and most effective thing to do is simply to change them. Read on to learn how.

How To Change The Thoughts & Beliefs That Don’t Support You In Your Life

A belief is JUST a belief, which is great news because you can simply replace it when you’re ready to and when you choose to. So referring back to the video of feeling greedy for wanting more, here’s how to make the change in your life…

1) Become aware of the belief and simply recognize that you’re feeling greedy for wanting more.

2) Understand the belief. Where in your past did you learn this belief? Was it something you heard, modeled or experienced?

3) Replace that belief with one that’s more supportive of your success and happiness. If that’s not what you actually believe anymore, let go of that belief and replace it with something that makes more sense in your life right now.

Bottom line:

You can change your beliefs any time you feel they don’t support you in your life anymore!

Simple as that! Good or good?

I think Maslov’s thesis is that we should become self-actualized. That sounds like what Mary is saying.

I believe Maslow was right. After we are fulfilled at each step we help others to succeed. The final.step is Self- Actualization where you are fulfilled like nothing you have ever experienced and again we help others.
      Thanks,
      Irene

I agree fully with Mary and Harv. We were created to grow every step of the way. I think greediness is a misused term. Wanting more to give more, wanting more to be more to others should be our goal in life.

I believe that as we grow and experience life our beliefs should also expand also
I once believed that growing old was awful but now that I am older I realize the joys of being older
To have the time to enjoy those things that make life worth living

Live our life to the fullest. God gave us the talent not to hid but to develop, enhance & share to others. If our purpose of wanting more is for us to give more, then it’s not greediness.
